Families Loosing Money Not Using Cashback Sites

UK shoppers are loosing out on over £3 billion a year or around £123 for every household family because they are not using cashback websites when shopping online new research has found.

Despite cashback websites and ways to get cashback being advertised online most people are still unaware or unsure how to use cashback websites Even though they can be used to save money at most household names such as Dixons, Marks & Spencer and Tesco.

Cashback sites are in effect portals where you click through to web retailers. The majority such as quidco, cashbackkings and Topcashback, have no catch catch other than as a shopper you will need to register first. But then that's it. Whenever you shop online, just visit your favourite cashback site first.

Once a shopper has registered with a cashback website they can shop for groceries, electricals etc by just clicking through to the retalier from the cashback website link. You are normally rewarded cashback for every purchase you make which can range from 4 to 10% and sometimes much more in some cases. The cashback is then paid to the shopper either directly into their bank account or by cheque when a certain amount has been made. Normally a shopping spree or around £300 can mean a cheque will arrive a month or so later for anywhere to £12 ro £30. And sometimes more with some retailers.

Current Currys the electrical giant is offering 3% cent cashback on all purchases. Great if you are a business or regular Currys shopper. Expedia travel site offers 10% cashback and the Boden clothing site gives back 5% and the Body Shop offers 14% and cashback is earned on all purchases.

Research by the shopping comparison site Kelkoo suggests that most online shoppers even quite frequent users of the internet, have never used cashback sites. Surprising?

Two out of five online shoppers have never used one of the many cashback sites, with a quarter saying they had never even heard of the concept. With 17% of all shopping now done online, according to the trade body Interactive Media in Retail Group, Kelkoo calculates that a potential £3.2 billion, or £123 for every family, is going unclaimed.

Bruce Fair, managing director of Kelkoo UK said: “It’s remarkable that these untapped millions go unclaimed because online shoppers don’t take advantage of cashback services. In many households, money is tight at the moment, so shoppers could really be benefiting from the additional money by ensuring that they are making the right decisions in order to get the best deals on their purchases.”

Cashback sites take advantage of the way commercial payments from one website to another work. They list energy and insurance suppliers and retailers, and when you click through to these websites, they get paid a small cut for every time they refer a customer. The cashback sites chose to pass most of this cut to the customer.

Yet with a cashback site, when you’re logged in, the revenue raised from your click is attributed to you so the site can pay you some or all of the money it receives. The research also revealed the reason people are not cashing in is due to a lack of knowledge about cashback services, with a quarter not knowing they even exist and 40% having never used a cashback website.

We here at Get Cashback Online have listed some of the greatest cashback sites you can use to get cashback on all of your purchases.

See here to see a long list of popular UK and US Cashback sites you can use to earn cashback with whenever you shop online.
